Thermoplastic
Elastomers Ebbtide
Polymers Corporation offers an in depth line of specialty
elastomers for the widest range of applications. From
Thermoplastic Polyurethane to Thermoplastic Vulcanizates,
Ebbtide has the ideal elastomeric solution just for you.
Most of the elastomeric materials described below can be extruded,
blow molded and injection molded. We are ready to assist
you with component design and tooling design. Overmolding,
multi-shot molding and co-extrusion are areas in which Ebbtide
Polymers is well positioned to serve you.
Meralast® TPV and Trexprene® TPV
Meralast® and Trexprene® Thermoplastic Vulcanizates from Ebbtide Polymers provide excellent performance, balanced economics and application development services. TPVs provide most of the performance properties of thermoset rubber, but have the processing ease of thermoplastics that allows for more design options and greater cost-reduction opportunities in a multitude of markets. TPVs provide excellent chemical resistance, compression set, colorability, aesthetics, soft touch "feel" and design flexibility. Ebbtide Polymers has developed Meralast® grades that far outstrip their competition in the areas of inherent UV stability/weatherability, excellent processability, consistent natural color for ease of coloring with color concentrates, flame retarded TPV, lubricated TPV and custom precolored TPVs. Our families of TPVs can be used in both automotive (Trexprene®) and non-automotive (Meralast®) applications. Look to us for help with overmolded grips, handles, soft touch features, bumpers, seals, gaskets, grommets, bellows, knobs, foot pads, pedals, cases, housings, sporting equipment and many, many more types of applications. If you are looking for a rubber replacement or to change from your current elastomer, Meralast® is the answer. Look to the Ebbtide Team for your next elastomer application.

Polyurethane
Thermoplastic
Polyurethanes are high performance elastomeric materials that
you may require for your toughest applications. TPU's
exhibit a unique balance of properties within the elastomeric
material family; excellent abrasion resistance, cut and tear
resistance, chemical resistance, hydrolytic stability, high
tensile strength, high elasticity and resilience (even at
low temperature) and low compression set. In addition
to a full range of TPU products, Ebbtide provides a full complement
of additives including color concentrates, lubricants and
stabilization packages for heat and UV. Ebbtide holds
the key to success in your next TPU project.
Ebbtide's
Elastomers
Ebbtide
Polymers also provides thermoplastic elastomers based on SEBS/SBS
and COPE. SEBS/SBS is commonly used in applications
requiring translucency or clarity, super soft elastomers (below
5 shore A), custom "feel" and other custom elastomeric
characteristics. Copolyester Elastomers are used in
some of the most abusive environments. This imported
COPE is stocked in the central US and is designed for a myriad
of high performance extrusion, blow molding and injection
molding applications

Materials
Ebbtide's
TPEs will bond to the following resins*:
Olefins -
all polypropylene (modified or neat) and many polyethylene
grades
Styrenics
ABS (Cycolac®, Lustran®, Lucky®, Terluran®,
etc.)
PC/ABS (Cycoloy®, Bayblend®, etc.)
Polycarbonate (Lexan®, Makrolon®, Calibre®,
Iupilon®, etc.)
Polyester (Valox®, Celanex®, Lutrel®,
Eastar®, etc.)
Nylon (Zytel®, Capron®, Nypel®, etc.)
CAB (Tenite®, etc.)
*Although
most will melt bond, some materials may require an adhesion
promoter for optimum bond characteristics.
